Oysters at the Temescal market....what! hella!

Walking into the Sunday Temescal market this week, we did the double-take. What, Hog Island oysters? Here, now? Have you always been here? 'No, this is our first week, but we'll have an oyster bar set up really soon,' the cute, quirky girls behind the table reassure. Y'all know what this means? I can roll out of bed late Sunday am, walk a couple blocks (bringing my orange juice etc), and dine on fresh oyster shooters for brunch. (!!!)
I love Oakland.

    I've never tried oysters and orange juice as a shooter before.

      oh, i meant oj as a mimosa to drink (separately) with the oyster to eat. oj mixed in sounds kinda weird. but maybe an orange-based marinade? like, orange juice, jalapeno, and olive oil? mmm...

      I saw her there yesterday too. When I asked her what she was doing there today if she had no raw bar, she said that she had samples, but I had to ask her for one. So, I asked her for one. Got a small "sweet water" oyster. I don't really know oysters, but I found this one rather salty for my taste. But, I am looking forward to them opening up.

      When I asked when the raw bar would be opening, she said it would be in two weeks. At first, I thought she was hedging a little, but she later said it would "definitely" be open in two weeks.

      Also, Scream sorbet mentioned they would be opening a store at 52nd and Telegraph soon.

        Oooh, thanks for the tip about the Scream Sorbet store. I love it that they now sell some of their best flavors in pre-packed pints, and even better if I don't have to hunt them down at a farmer's market.

          At the Temescal Street Fair this weekend I saw signs for the new Scream Sorbet store -- it'll be around 51st and Telegraph, in between Bakesale Betty's and Pizzaiolo, and the signs say that it opens in June.

        We were there today, and they announced that today is Hog Island's last day at the Temescal market, though they will be at the Saturday market in Berkeley going forward.

          Would you happen to remember what the pricing was for oysters, especially if they offered some sort of volume discount for qtys of 25 or 50?
