Tap Water in The Holy Lands.... is it safe for a tourist?

After a disastrous introduction to Mexican tap water I want to get a heads up on the water in the Bethlehem, Jerusalem area.

My family is going on a pilgrimage and after a VERY bad experience in mexico I would like to know if it would be safe for us to get ice, or tap water in the area.

Any help in this area would be appreciated.

Thought my mom was crazy when she told me she takes Pepto Bismol tablets several times a day to prevent travelers diarrhea, but I also confirmed it with a pharmacist. Not some old wives tale, it works.

If it ain't broke, I don't fix it. I've never had a problem when travelling. We spend time in Rio and drink the tap water there. It ain't broke.

I drank water in Jerusalem and the rest of Israel with NO issues at all. Used tap water when cleaning my contacts too. Used only bottle water in Mexico. Neve ate or drank anything in Bethlehem, but if I had to have a drink I would have had a can of Coke.
