Where in Denver can I get Paella?

kkrb33 Feb 28, 2010 03:09 PM

I have been desperately craving paella, and have found nowhere in Denver that can provide me paella! I went to Samba room and was VERY disappointed with their Paella...it was just rice thrown over some seafood. Any suggestions?

We had good paella at Red Tango in Wheatridge, though I think it was a special and not on the regular menu.

The Med in Boulder offers it. I have never ordered it, but tasted it once, and wasn't terribly impressed, but I'm not a paella expert.

The Med was the first place that popped into my head. It was very good for this part of the world but that is a very relative comparison!

Aji in Boulder serves a Barzilian-style paella-ish dish called Moqueca do Frutas Del Mar, made with jasmine rice, lots or seafood and cocnut milk.

I love Paella, so far my best sucess has been at Cuba Cuba, that said, I've had it there probably 6 times, and once it was awful, very over salted, but the other times I was thrilled. Sabor Latino has also been better than average. Deluxe hit and miss for consistency, tends to be too soupy there for my taste. I'd love to hear your thoughts, if you try one.
