Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Mexico (including Mexico City, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta)

Best Food in Costa Maya and Cozumel

I will be traveling to both places on a cruise this summer

When I travel I strive to find the best LOCAL food possible thats NOT tourist infested.

From reviews I think I will go to (100% Aguave) in Costa Maya
Im not sure about Cozumel- Any suggestions?

I also would like to try some Churros and Plantains

Please send over any suggestions that you may have

Thanks!

  1. dahotone, definitely hit 100% Agave and tell Fernando, crewsweeper says Hi!

For Cozumel, I recommend Kinta's on the north end of the main plaza if you're a small group and there in the evening.
Or else Especias, its on Calle 3 between Avenida 5 and Avenida 10, upstairs. A bit hard to find but worth the effort. Further away from the tourist area is El Turix by the Corpus Christi Church. Hours are quirky and menu varies depending upon what the owner wants to cook and what's available. Coconut cake is to die for though if they have it. Also Los Otates, a tacqueria near Especias. Getting a bit of tourist following but a lot of locals. May not be open for lunch in the summer months. And even further back away from the tourists altogether is Pescarderia San Carlos, way back off Avenida 5o Bis. Part local fish market part restaurant. Best seafood in town. Definitely worth the cab ride.

Veggo may have other recs, pay attention to them.
