ISO Great Restaurants/Food in Englewood/Port Charlotte Area
We will be in the Englewood/Port Charlotte area for a couple of weeks and are looking to ChowHounders to help in picking restaurants, suggestions of fish mongers/butchers etc?

The Perfect Caper in Punta Gorda is chow worthy and really excellent. Good for a special night. Even though I lived in the Punta Gorda area for 7 years, I never found many interesting places and that still is true today, at least from my perspective.
Avoid: Fisherman's Village tourist traps.
Monty's Pizza (?) I believe gets raves here. I used to like it but have not been for many years.
I can offer no suggestions for Englewood or Port Charlotte.

I remembered some discussion of this a month or so ago and this is what the search came up with. Not much, but at least something.

Perfect Caper really is a cut above. Great ambiance, service, and extremely chow worthy. This month they feature prix fixe menu Tue - Thur. $20 for starter and entree. $30 if you want to include 2 glasses of wine.
We went early to check out the Irish pub Celtic Ray that is nearby. As close to an Irish pub as I've seen in the states. My wife (Dublin born and bred) happily reported it smelled like an Irish pub as soon as we opened the door. Small menu on the chalk board listed (among other things I can't remember) bangers, Guiness pie, colcannon, and of course Fish and chips. We'll go back soon to try their food.
