Bamix Immersion Blender -- Is Its Weight a Problem?

I have a bottom-of-the-line Braun immersion blender that I use primarily for pureeing soups. I've been contemplating upgrading to one of the Bamix models, but in reviewing the specs, I read that the weight of the Deluxe is 30 oz., and the Gastro weighs 34 oz. That seems awfully heavy to me. Is the weight of the Bamix a problem for anyone who uses one?

The weight isn't an issue for me. It doesn't take long to puree anything with the Bamix so you're not holding it for very long/

I can agree. The Bamix is made with extremely high quality parts. Probably resulting in a heavier device. However like KTinNYC said, it doesn't take long to puree things and even so, at-least your getting a little work-out before you eat your delicious milk-shake. I find the value to be right on par considering the amount of time they last. The accessories are the first things to go and they can easily be purchased off amazon or ebay.

I have used other immersion blenders, but nothing comes close to the quality of a Bamix. I use it all the time and the weight has never bothered me.

I can't say it has ever bothered me, I have one and was actually just given a Braun so can compare them. I have just weighted the Braun at 21oz and the Bamix at 28oz... My Bamix is from the 60's and still going strong so I can recommend their quality :)

I'm not really able to weigh my Braun, but I don't think it weighs anywhere near 21 oz.. 30 oz. is almost two pounds. I'm trying to talk myself into it. That's almost the weight of a quart of water, yet it's described as "amazingly lightweight."
