Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese?

Anyone been to Pops recently?

I used to love it there, but stopped going when it started to get a little dingy for my liking and food was okay, but nothing special. I saw somewhere that they recently renovated and, by looking in the window, it looks like the bar has been relocated? Anyone have any recent reviews? I'd love to start going there again if it's been revived...

    Definitely worth another look. Pros: a huge new small-plates menu in addition to pretty much everything from the old app/entree menu. We tried a handful of the new dishes, all really good and reasonably priced (they're not tiny tapas-sized small plates). The full bar up front is a mixed blessing: they've got dedicated full-time bartenders now who seem pretty competent, making a much broader range of drinks, but the very modern design of the bar seems rather at odds with the rest of the decor. The kitchen is no longer open; it's hidden behind frosted glass, and the former counter seating along the kitchen is gone.

    A big minus is how they're reconfigured the seating in the rest of the dining room. The front part is still comfortable, but they're made the greenhouse room too tightly packed, putting diners right on top of each other, with some spots constantly jostled by service traffic. A shame; that was my favorite part of the old room. Not the best part of the re-imagining.

      I love that they made the bar area bigger being someone who eats most of her meals at a bar. The small plates menu is a plus too. My only minor quibble is that the bar itself is a bit narrow and was actually too small for the size of the plate that our food came on.

      Ive been a couple of times since the reopening and have really enjoyed it. The first time was within a short time of the reopen- and they were definitely still working some kinks out with the food- many of the dishes were either just odd, or not spiced correctly. I went back about two weeks ago and they had definitely fixed many of the concerns Id originally had. Im really enjoying them now.

        We've been once since the redo and sat at the bar. The bar itself is a bit narrow, you'd be better off ordering rounds of small plates rather than all at once (though they spaced it for us, we still ended up with little room, and too much in front of us). The Beefcake small plate was phenomenal. Shredded braised short rib and oxtail, formed into a patty covered in panko and lightly fried. Crispy outside, delicious braised beef inside.
