We bought a big 2L bottle of kvass at a deli on Decarie (I forget the name... ) just above Queen Mary. The ladies said "be careful when you open it!" When we got it home, we had to open it over a bucket in the kitchen sink to catch all the foam - almost half the bottle emptied in foam, and it foamed for several minutes non-stop! The foam collected in the bucket eventually settled and we drank that first before what was left in the bottle. That's the real stuff, for sure.

Ps. we like that deli a lot: great deli meats and cheeses, lots of nice pickled mushrooms, and the sunflowerseed oil that we love on salads...

not sure... east side of Decarie, just north of Queen Mary?

    2. There's a Russian deli (still there ?) on Parc.ave. close to Frite Alors (east side of the street).

      Maybe they have some.

went by saturday, it is still there. don't know if they carry kvass though:)

      2. St. Petersburg Deli on the south side of Sherbrooke near Decarie carries a couple kinds of kvass - or at least they did a couple of years ago.
