Spanish Chorizo - where to buy?
I'm having problems finding Spanish Chorizo in the Phoenix area. I live along the Camelback Corridor. Does anyone know where I can buy it? Hmmmm, I just thought of Lola's Tapas . . . maybe they would be a good resource. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

re: fluffitude
I'm pretty sure the chorizo at the downtown market is of the Mexican variety. Spanish chorizo is a completely different thing.
And ipsedixit nailed it, Schreiner's makes Spanish chorizo. I haven't tried it, but everything else from Schreiner's that I've tasted is darn good stuff.

Thank you for your help. I'm going to start with Petit Fromage because I've never been! After posting my question, I did a bit more research on spanish chorizo - i thought it was sold raw like mexican chorizo. I think that is what stumped me. I'm so looking forward to trying a recipe I saw in the NYTimes - Fried Chickpeas with Chorizo (spanish) and Spinach. Sounds fantastic. Thank you all again.

I *think* I've seen it next to the cheese counter at Whole Foods--I'd call before heading out, though. Also, you might try calling Petit Fromage to see if they have any.

re: hohokam
I've bought it at the Whole Foods at Chandler. Though the last time I went in for some, about two months ago, the were out. I thikn it was a temporary thing, though I haven't looked since.
I prefer the one that Whole Foods carries to that at AJ's though I can't remember the mark on either one.
