Group Dining in Harrisburg
Need a place for a Saturday night farewell dinner to accommodate 30 people in March. The honoree is a 30 y.o. hip European with sophisticated tastes that has also come to love all things American during his 3 yr. stint in the States. He lives in Lancaster, but the boss would like to get out in Harrisburg for something different. Leaning toward Bricco, but haven't actually had the pleasure. Any other ideas? I don't dine out in Harrisburg that often, so I'm sure there are options I've never heard of. Love Mangia Qui, but don't think they could handle the group.
Thanks!

check out this fairly recent thread about Harrisburg dining.

Tavern on the Hill (just across the river in Enola, PA) accommodated our group of about that size and we had a excellent dinner. Highly recommended.

re: Chefpaulo
Well, 2 things, since everyone is coming from Lancaster Co., that seems a little far. Also - despite good food, lacks the young vibe we were hoping for. The hope was also to be able to go out afterward and enjoy a little night life. Now though, it looks like we are leaning toward Devon Seafood Grill in Hershey. I've been a few times and always had a good meal. It is loud, which can be a problem for some, yet seems appropriate for this group. :) Thanks for your help, Tavern on the Hill is on my (growing) short list of places to check out for a romantic night out with the hubby - or was thinking of it as a possibility for an annual birthday dinner a group of us do (6). That will be coming up in April.

re: centralpadiner
Also consider the relatively new Harvest Restaurant at the Hotel Hershey. Their emphasis is on local and regional American food. Another good choice would be 2201 in the Boro in Camp Hill, a few miles west of Harrisburg.
I'm not sure why you are against restaurants that are just over the river. If your group is willing to drive the 40 or so miles from Lancaster to Harrisburg, what's another few miles? If you also want to sample the night life in downtown Harrisburg, it will take only about 10 minutes to get there from either Enola (Tavern on the Hill) or Camp Hill.
Bricco is excellent. I've never had a bad meal there. And, of course, you'll already be downtown if you have dinner there.
