Saturday Brunch

  • 6

Before hotel check-in we will be looking for a good bloody mary and breakfast/lunch around noon on Saturday near the Gainey Ranch area. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

  1. Are you flying into Sky Harbor, renting a car, driving to Gainey Ranch? Personally, I don't know any Saturday brunches, but adding some details to your route / itinerary may spark some responses.

Will be taking a car service to Gainey Ranch Suites Hotel from airport - thus want to have lunch in the Gainey Ranch vicinity - doesn't have to be a brunch - nice lunch will do fine! Thanks!

So you will not have a car? There have been many, many postings on this site reminding visitors the valley is very spread out and difficult to navigate without a car. Taxi's are expensive and usually need to be arranged ahead of time. You'll easily spend more on taxi transportation than for renting a car.

That said, you are in a bit of luck in that there is an upscale strip mall adjacent to your hotel that has several decent dining options. Right next to your hotel is Village Tavern. I've eaten there several times and it's dependable although not overly ambitious. Also in the mall is a McCormich & Schmicks (great happy hour by the way), Pei Wei, and a place on the corner I can never remember the name of. It's Marketplace or similar and features multiple food stations with both pre-prepared food and prepared to order food.

The prepared food place you're describing sounds like The Kitchen (formerly, the equally generically named "Dish"). It is just north of the hotel. Despite its address, The Kitchen is pretty hard, if not impossible, to spot from Scottsdale Road.

You are correct on both names. I couldn't remember the name when it was Dish either.

    2. If the weather is nice, one of our favorites is the Marketplace at Vincent's on Camelback. It's only on Saturday and it's open air, but the variety and freshness of the offerings are great. A nice European feel to the market. A variety of made to order omelets, a selection of paellas, made to order brick over fired pizzas, plus great pastries and my favorite, fresh squeezed orange juice. Worth the visit. https://www.vincentsoncamelback.com/b...
