I know this is a bit late for your visit, but my fiance and I went today and while the meal was enjoyable, I don't understand the hype/Zagat ratings/etc.
Our bruschetta with prosciutto and spinach was a nice beginning as the bread melted in your mouth and the dish just worked. It was not, however, something extremely memorable.
The entrees were a bit more disappointing. The steak was ordered medium and came out well done. While extremely flavorful, a $38 entree (ironically, the price outlier on an otherwise inexpensive menu) should be cooked to order correctly.
My fiance had a rigatoni dish with shrimp that was pretty bland and not impressive. We've had better at some neighborhood trattorias by us in New Jersey.
While it was nice to have an inexpensive meal in NYC by relative standards, I would have rather spent the $100 or so, at a pizza joint. Another notch against Zagats credibility.
