Tommy's - having trouble?
so by chance two sets of friends complained to me in the past two weeks about one of my recommendations, Tommy's ("It's like Irene's w/o the wait"). independently they both said the food was cold and the lamb chops were super fatty, leaving only a mere nugget of edible meat on each pop.
anyone else have trouble or know what could be going on over there? i usually stick to the meuniere and crab gratin but i havent been in maybe two years..
It's been awhile since I've been there as well. I wanted to like Tommy's, giving them several shots but they always fell short. Service was iffy and even though it's supposed to be " like Irene's", IMO, it's not. Besides, no wait at Irene's' if you make a reservation.

After a long hiatus, I dined at Tommy's back in November and thought the food was good. Oysters Tommy and sweetbreads were great. Duck was a bit dried out in the breast.
The service was, as always, excellent. Sam is the best waiter in the city, in my opinion. I really can't speak for the other wait staff though, as Sam waits on nearly every time. Perhaps the others are not on his level.
