Looking for a bar/lounge in Union Square or Chelsea area where 6 old friends can find seats, enjoy tasty cocktails, and hear each other talk. Will arrive on early side -- about 6:00 PM.

    1. Raines Law Room -- I went recently with 5 friends and it was ideal for a party this size. They have cozy, tucked-away booths for groups of 6-8. You could also try Flatiron Lounge, which makes good cocktails, but is probably a little louder than RLR.

              I second RLR. Was there just last night. Le Zie has a nice bar in the back too.

                  Is it tough to get a seat at Raines? We would go on the early side, 6 or so, but am wondering if I'd be better off going on a day when I can reserve.
