Arcadia Japanese restaurant owned by Mirai Nagasu's parents?

WildSwede Feb 24, 2010 03:50 PM

I was watching the olympics last night (through very, very bleary eyes - this staying up til midnight to watch the events is killing me!! AND we are in the same timezone - don't even get me started!) and heard mention that the US Women's Ice Skater Mirai Nagasu's parents own and run a Japanese restaurant in Arcadia. Apparently it has been around for years since they mentioned she used to sleep in a supply closet when she was little. Does anyone know which one it is? Thanks!

A quick Google search tells me it's called Restaurant Kiyosuzu.

It is Kiyosuzu but the sign is rather obscure, covered by a tree. It's tucked in the middle of the plaza north of Fairview.
Very cozy inside. Decent Sashimi, good tempura.

      Yeah, it's Kiyosuzu.

But unfortunately it's just not very good.

A great skating performance nonetheless -- bloody nose and all!

Agreed, but fortunately right around the corner (on Duarte just W of Baldwin) is Sakana, which *is* really good ... best omakase I've had in the SGV.

I go to this place all time with my family! In my opinion they make very good japanese food at very reasonable prices. There is generally a wait unfortunately. And now that Mirai Nagasuhas become somewhat of an American hero, this place will be even busier!

Too bad no medal for Mirai. :-(

Still, even getting to the Olympics is an impressive accomplishment. Maybe she'll have the time now to help her family improve the food at their restaurant.
