Quick-ish, delish lunch near Times Square
It's rare that I'm stumped for a place to eat in the 5 boroughs but this time I'm drawing a blank. I'm meeting an out-of-towner who's in town for an event in Times Square. Looking for:
-- lunch
-- 12:15ish
-- With 12 minutes or so of Times Square by subway or foot
-- Worth the calories.
I figure we could go 1 or 2 subway stops uptown or downtown if the destination was within a block or so of the subway stop.
Any ideas?
I was thinking Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien but if it's jammed then I'm at a loss for a backup. :-/
Thanks!
-Peter

Koreatown! Why didn't I think of that? I assume most those places are open for lunch? Anyone know how crowded they get around 12:15?

Yes, most places in K-Town should be open for lunch. Some places are always packed during lunchtime (Woorijip, Mandoo Bar, generally cheaper ones) but there will be many others that aren't that busy.

I like the roast pork, broccoli rabe and provolone sandwich at Shorty's on 9th Ave. between 41st and 42nd.

Szechuan Gourmet or Lan Sheng? With a little luck ,at least one should have available seating.

how about Ma Peche, the temporary new David Chang restaurant at the Chambers Hotel? It's near the Burger Joint so a good backup or primary spot. The 2 bahn mi styles are delicious!!
