Shanghai Cafe - Norwalk/Wilton Border

I tried out this place recently as prior posts have indicated that it is a sister restaurant to Village Gourmet in Norwalk and a source for 'authentic' chinese.

A big sign says it is under new management, so I'm not sure if it is associated any longer. I was hoping for some Shanghainese fare, but the menu is pretty much standard american chinese, with a few Thai / Malay dishes thrown in.

What we had was not bad, but nothing special either. Village Gourmet on the other hand is a slight cut above the standard stuff.

that's a shame. They had a wonderful setup with phenomenal food (each of their dishes had a unique and expressive taste to it). Standard issue chinese is not what the Wilton area needs
