Pregnant - Dim Sum Craving -take out options near the SF Airport area or San Jose

Greetings,

My husband and I recently moved to the central coast which unfortunately does not have any chinese restaurants that serve dim sum or decent chinese food for that matter. My cousin is flying into SFO this Friday and driving down to visit us here in BFE.

My cousin offered to pick up dim sum for us on his way down! But, I'm unfamiliar with restaurants south of San Francisco. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good dim sum restaurant where I can send my cousin to so he can shuttle it down to us?

Easy access from the 101 would be great!

Thanks!

What are your diet constraints? I'm thinking some of the meat/veggie based frozen dumplings that a few of the restaurants in Cupertino/San Jose sell might be a good option, then you could steam them at home.

This place has mixed reviews, but; I enjoyed the dim sum. ABC Seafood Restaurant, Foster City, CA. It's south of SFO off RTE 101. You can get reviews of this place at Yelp.com/

Yeah ABC is convenient and you can call ahead for a takeout order. They are not the best in the area for dim sum, but is off 101. The others are The Kitchen, Zen and Asian Pearl in Millbrae.

It's good and very close to 101, as are Hong Kong Flower Lounge and Asian Pearl in Millbrae.

wow..lots of good dim sum places in the south bay along 101 - Fu Lam Mum in MountainView, Joy Luck Palace in Cupertino, Hong Kong Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant in sunnyvale, Taipan in Palo Alto (abit pricey)....those should be worth looking into...

I have heard the Joy Luck in now closeed in all locations. But I have not actually confirm it in person.

Went to A&J in Cupertino for lunch less than a month ago and Joy Luck Place (Cupertino) as well as its congee/noodle/rice casual fare non dim sum joint, are still open and in business. I think the Joy Luck closure is only restricted to San Mateo.

I stand corrected. I did not see for myself but heard it from someone else.

Agree with The Kitchen, on El Camino in Millbrae, one exit from SFO. Yummy Dim Sum!

I haven't tried them yet but saw them this week at Costco, trays of microwave ready dim sum.
Sounds a little strange but considering transport and rewarming from the restaurant it might be a viable alternative or not.

Wolfe- Was this Richmond? Saw the pic on the new items board but didn't know where they were kept in the warehouse.

Yes, Richmond, back refrigerator just to the right of the rotisserie chicken.

Thx, that's the one section I don't look at much - might give it a shot next time if it's still around.

I'm not sure but Shanghai Dumpling Shop in Millbrae (near a bunch of other places mentioned) might sell frozen XLBs. I know other places sell frozen bags.

There's also a 99 Ranch off 101/Hillsdale that should have a few varieties of frozen dim sum.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I update the post tomorrow to let you know which one my cousin picked on his way down --- and if Dim Sum can actually surivive a 3 hour car drive.

As for BFE -- it's an acronym --- (basically a crude way of saying that I live in the middle of no where)
