Am meeting friends for dinner tonight at Pete's Tavern and am wondering if anyone has had anything reasonably decent there (don't want a burger). Thanks.

i've had ok fried calamari there...and the caesar salad, while not "good" (i've never had a good one in NYC) is ok too...some kind of Italian-American pasta&meatballs such fare is safe too...

Can't say I've ever had anything there that I'd call "good" or even "decent" that didn't come in a glass.

I was afraid of that -- I guess I'll just have to take my chances.

it's not terrible, just mediocre...you'll survive, and it's kind of a fun old-school space...drink heavily and enjoy the breadsticks/crackers...i think the steak fries are ok too...

Thanks all for your responses. The food was a real throwback, Greek diner type stuff but edible. Service, however, was very warm and welcoming, from the hosts to our waiter, so still enjoyable, although not a place I would choose.

I've had the eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti marinara. It was Greek diner quality, very comforting in a way. Every now and then it's nice to have a plate of eggplant that has lost most of its structural integrity, drowned in a giant pool of melted mozzarella and super-smooth tomato sauce.

it's typical stuff but . . . . I like the wings there. they were kinda different, but I can't remember how. pretty crusty/batter-y, I recall.
