suggestions on where to take an 8 year old very adventurous eater for a special lunch in manhattan? he wants to go to a "fancy" place, like the Modern, for example. I am thinking of a slightly more kid-friendly menu than that. Not completely dumbed down but maybe more accessible to a child. thanks.

I recently took a 7 year to EMP and he LOVED it. Plenty of things on the menu to choose from at lunchtime, he ate everything, staff could not have been nicer, and he loved having a fancy non-alcoholic cocktail. And he adored the dessert cart of course. Highly recommended.

Why not do it the way he asked for? You say it is a special lunch and that he is very adventurous, so why not? Let him rise to the occasion, I bet he surprises you!
