Celebratory Lunch Recs - for Saturday
Coming to NYC from CT via train for a special lunch (9 yr anniversary of our meeting:). I am a serious cook and like to be inspired and impressed - maybe even discover something that I will want to make at home. H is pleased by any sort of meat. I eat only veg or fish. Have done some research from recs on this board and have narrowed down the choices. We both like Mexican/Southwestern, Indian and Chinese food. If taxis are available (H has bum ankle), my first 2 choices would be Rocking Horse Cafe or Agave. If we need to stay uptown nearer to Grand Central then maybe Chinchin, Yuva or Nirvana. Any opinions on my choices? (not interested in the Per Se, Momofoko sort of places - wd not suit dear H).

None of the places you've selected are anything 'special' IMO. They are solid neighborhood mid level places. I love Rocking Horse, but it's by no means a special celebratory spot. Better than Agave.

How about Rosa Mexicano? Definitely more celebratory than the other two Mexican restaurant choices and nearer to Grand Central.
