Dinner near Marriot Center City
Hello all, I have a late flight into Philly next Friday for business. Can anyone recommend a good place to grab dinner (preferably takeout) within walking distance of the Marriot Center City? Reading Terminal Market closes at 6pm so unfortunately that isn't an option. Thanks!

Vietnam Palace would probably be my bet. Just a couple blocks north from the Marriott, great food, and they are always willing & able to prepare take-out (if you must, but it's a nice room to eat in or sit at the bar if you can make it in time.... I think you can get in until about 10pm...)

There's a lot of smaller places heading towards Rittenhouse that are very good, and many of the larger places do takeout as well. Also the Garces Trading Co. that just opened has some decent sandwiches that they can prepare to go (they are at 1111 Locust). Are you looking more for convenience or for good quality food, and if so, what type of food?

I second Garces Trading Company, I suspect you can get any of the cafe menu to go, but I haven't tried that yet. On Fridays they're open until 10pm.
http://www.garcestradingcompany.com/You will also be really close to Chinatown where take out abounds! I really enjoy Sakura at 11th and Race. Or if you are willing to eat in, hit the Dim Sum Garden on 11th Street, between Filbert and Arch for excellent shanghai steamed buns (aka soup dumplings, but don't order "soup dumplings" or you'll get a bowl of dumplings in soup) and some great pork or duck w/noodle dishes.

re: tommer
don't be put off by its looks, they serve really good food. if you want a similar menu but a slightly prettier ambiance (and sushi) you can try sakura.
also, marc vetri's new joint amis just opened and if i read correctly, he is planning on serving food until 11.30 pm. it is a romanesque trattoria, so expect good cacio e pepe and carciofi alla giudia.....

re: bluehensfan
Thanks bluehensfan. I checked out the website for Garces Trading Co and will be going there the following day. As for Friday night, I'm mainly looking for convenience but am not considering Macdonalds or Chilis, etc. I don't really have a preference but I have a meeting the next day so hopefully nothing i eat will make me sick!

Depending on your mood, may even want to consider Garces takeout on Friday. I went on Tuesday, deliciious bread, spanish olives, thinly sliced sacisson, 2 nice cheeses............and of course some wine! Yum! But yes, menu for eating in also looks interesting and will be there soon.
