GC Oyster Bar has fried whole Ipswich clams, but I wasn't too keen on them.

Ed's Lobster Bar also has them I believe. But Pearl's and Mary's are probably the places I'd try first.

You probably won't find any that match the clam shacks on Cape Cod, but they will do in a pinch.

Fried whole clam bellies are my all time favorite fried dish, when they are done right.

Ed's are on a par with Pearl's and Mary's. Forgot about Ed's.

I think gutsofsteel hit the nail on the head with those two but if you're willing to travel a bit further, check out the fish shakes on City Island (Bronx).

I have been so disappointed with stuff on City Island the last few visits...I am not sure it's worth the trip unless you're going for other reasons other than food. And certainly don't go out there until the weather is nice...

City Island as a whole makes it worth the trip.

When the weather is nice it's so crowded as to make it not to be worth the trip. I've only been to City Island twice and I never found any place very special. It's a cute place but not a destination for food, IMO.

I agree completely. Cute place is all it is, and not much to do or see actually.
