Your Margarita Moment

So, we all love a good margarita, but what is the all time perfect moment for you to enjoy one?

I'm trying to paint a picture of what chow hounders think is the best possible margarita experience, so am looking for your help.

If it was up to you, where would you be sipping on your margarita? Who would you be with? What's the reason? What type of margarita would it be? What's the weather like? How are you feeling?

For me I'm be sitting by a pool in Guadalajara, my feet just dipping in the water. The sun's shining down, it's 85 degrees and I don't have a care in the world. I'm with my girlfriend, and we've just ordered some amazing tacos. We've been on vacation for a week celebrating a recent promotion, but that seems a long way away right now. My margarita is in a rocks glass with a few cubes of ice, and not too much salt.

How about you?

Thanks for helping me build up a picture of your perfect margarita moment, and I hope that it's not long until you get to experience it!

  1. I'm sitting in my living room, alone, except for my dog bugging the hell out of me to play. It's the middle of February and there is a foot and a half of snow on the ground. I'm bumming because I KNOW Winter will truly never end.
I finally get off the couch, mix up 4 oz of El Tosoro Blanco with 2 oz of fresh sqeezed lime juice, half an oz of orange juice, and 1 oz of simple syrup, shake it with some ice, and pour into a very lightly salted rim margarita glass.
I take a sip and know that there are better times to come.

Very nice! I did something similar last night and used up the last of a homemade strawberry liqueur I made late last spring to put together a nice strawberry-flavored drink that I won't call a Margarita variation because it contained no orange liqueur. But my inspiration was National Margarita Day so it's on-topic and works pretty well for a fruity drink in the middle of February...

      3 oz Blanco Tequila
      1/2 oz lime juice
      1/2 oz lemon juice
      1 1/2 oz strawberry liqueur (see: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6375...
      )1/2 oz St Germain
      3 dashes grapefruit bitters

Shake, strain, sip. Repeat as necessary until winter ends.

    2. How appropriate for National Margarita Day. :)

I'm in Austin, TX. On a patio in April, with live music nearby. Lots of salt, but it's a BIG glass, so it has to last. Just enjoying.

      1. I'm on a terrace overlooking the Gulf.
Not a cloud in the sky and it's hot. Real hot. There is a very nice cooling breeze coming in off the gulf cooling to a pleasant and comfortable temperature.
As I sit, sipping on my drink I come to the realization, I need to do this way more often.
