veselka's oatmeal raisin cookies

hi all,

okay, i know that everyone goes to veselka for the borscht, pierogies and stroganoff (mmm), but i'm weirdly hooked on their oatmeal raisin cookies. the problem: i live uptown and it's a decent trek to make it down to LES. i don't know if the recipe is in the veselka cookbook (side note- how is that? i haven't been able to find recipe listings anywhere online), which would be the best solution, but if not, does anyone have suggestions for comparable oatmeal raisin cookies in the city? i'm looking for thick, doughy cookies with soft, chewy raisins.

thanks!

  1. i don't really have an answer, but can tell you that veselka usually gives free reign to their bakers. there's less variation in their desserts compared to in past years, but it's doubtful they ever had a set recipe.

i enjoy the oatmeal recipe cookies found in union square's green market (the thicker ones packaged in 3's), but you might as well go on to veselka once you're that far downtown.

    1. Maybe you could call the restaurant and ask if the recipe is in the book?

      1. According to this the recipe is in the book
