There's a realtor's sign on the Shattuck building, so I doubt there will ever be another Flint's go-round.

Wow, finally. I kept wondering why they didn't lease it or sell it if they weren't going to use it.

Probably next to impossible to get a permit to operate a smoker there again.

Doubt Flints is coming back. I was never a fan of their meat (except for the links), but I still dream about the sauce. I wish I new how to create it myself. Does anyone know of a recipe or at least another joint with similar sauce?

I heard the sauce recipe went with the owner, who passed away. In the last rendition of Flints the sauce was off...close, familiar but something was obviously missing.

The meat was off, too, in both the penultimate and final rebirths.

In the third-from-last incarnation, we did a rib tasteoff with E&J, and there was no contest on either meat or sauce.

I live near the one on Shattuck and there has been no activity there since the last time they closed a year or so back, and that location at least sucked during its final incarnation (I think they were bringing it in from the other place and heating it up, anyway I never smelled the smoker). The Bancroft location was reportedly closed a year ago:

I live fairly close to the Bancroft location and can confirm that as recently as two days ago it is a vacant storefront, although the Flint's signage is still there.
