Fun, good restaurant for birthday party

I'm looking for a place to celebrate my birthday with about 6 or 7 people - we're mostly in our early 30's. I'm hoping to find somewhere not too far (I live in the Plateau) where the food is good and we can enjoy ourselves. I like fine cuisine, good wine and a nice atmosphere...not too fancy but nice! If it's not too expensive or they have late night specials, that would be great too!

What's you're budget, before wine, tax, tip?

I recently posted a similar topic for my 25th birthday next weekend. I decided on Alep, and since we're a group larger than 10, they emailed me 3 group menu options to choose from (the least expensive being 30$). I can let you know how that is if you'd like. As for late night specials, Lemeac has one: http://www.restaurantlemeac.com/fr-CA...
      Hope this helps!

Budget would be about $30-$40 before wine, tax and tip but that's flexible (and I'm not opposed to paying less!) I saw your topic thread as well, chefjeannie, and I looked into both Alep and Lemeac, which both seem like good options. Any more ideas?

Pintxo and Au Cinquieme Peche (my recent favourite) come to mind.

Pintxo was ony my short list as well! The Alep menu of $30 is before tax, tip, and drinks.

I was recently at Yoyo, right in the Plateau, for a friendly dinner, and there were two groups of greater than 10, each enjoying a birthday dinner. Sparkler-decorated desserts came out, with the staff singing. The food at Yoyo is excellent, with most entrees $22-28, and Table de Hote running $45. It's APV, so the wine is as good as you want it to be, and always exactly in your price range. There is no other restaurant I've been in Montreal, where the entire evening, it feels like I've been lifted and hugged. My strongest recommendation.

Yoyo is no more. New owners and new name: Humeur.
