Alta Mare in SOBE

    I walked by there last night and it looked closed

      odd because the sign at the old alta mar place said go 100 feet to the new alta mar restaurant.

        It was open and packed they turned people away.

            I went -- it was very good but pricey and they include tip btw.

                short ribs
                pork loin
                spaghetti bottarga
                spaghetti crab
                veal pate
                cheesecake flan

                Everything was at least good.

                Sweetbreads were my favorite followed closely by the pate, then the shortribs. Desserts were very good too. I liked the pork loin but would not get that again.

      Altamare hosted a Cobaya dinner last night and they did not disappoint. Owner Claudio was a great host as usual and was responsible for some perfect wine pairings and generous pours. Chef Stojanovich treated us to five great dishes, a fresh and nicely seasoned sheepshead carpaccio, a perfectly cooked and flavorful triggerfish tempura(one of the best fish dishes I've had in a while), a tender and nicely charred grilled octopus, homemade pappardelle with buff mozz/tomato and very tasty braised short ribs and a Deep Creek lamb heart. Pastry chef Crystal finished the night with a very good chocolate fennel sponge dessert. It was an enjoyable evening and meal. I'm looking forward to going back and working my way through the new menu. The new space looked great.

          I enjoyed a meal there recently too. Service was awesome. Scallop ceviche and mushroom ravioli were awesome. More here:

          Went back to Altamare last night for the first time since the Cobaya dinner and it was truly delicious. There were some issues with service, but once we spoke to Claudio it was taken care of, though perhaps too late in the meal. Having said that, the food was entirely good enough to warrant repeat trips despite the service problems we had (and from Claudio's hands-on approach, I get the sense that it was an aberration).
