Hi All,

I am planning on taking my S.O. to a pre-theatre dinner next Saturday and have the options down to the Pelican Club and GW Fins. Never been to either and the menus both look good. Any suggestions for a nice, but reasonably quick romantic meal.

Thanks!!!

  1. Muriel's has a great pre-theatre menu.

    1. Pelican Club is great and more romantic than GW Fins in my opinion.

while im a champion of PC, i find two of their three dining rooms not so awesome (the wood-paneled middle room is nice). for me GW's has a more consistent room vibe, one which i find romantic even if its more "busy".

I agree with PC and that the middle room is best. PC is a little noisy but food is worth it.

Unless I'm mistaken the dark wood room (the one with the Michaelopolous paintings) is the first of the three dining rooms (but the second room, after the bar/entrance). The other two did seem noisy because the walls were bouncing sound around. The dark room had a lusher, quieter feel when we were there. I think the wood walls might be made of old doors from when the building was a bordello? Is that right? I remember the waiter saying something about that.

Anyway, it's a solid and under-appreciated place imo.

I really like Pelican Club a lot...but don't find it romantic at all. It's just too loud.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Pelican Club! They really do have some incredible specials. Their summer specials (coolinary menus) can't be beat.

            2. Delayed response - but we ended up going to Pelican Club and really enjoying it. Since we were eating extremely early we essentially had the first of the dinning rooms as you walk in to ourselves. I thought the options on the "early bird" special were quite generous, and particularly enjoyed the seafood cocktail started - which was absolutely delicious. The mains were solid but not particularly spectacular, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Overall, I had a very pleasant meal and was pleased that we were able to do a full three course meal before the ballet without feeling rushed at all. Thanks everyone for all your help it was much appreciated.
