Toronto visitors - looking for Saturday night plans
We're a 30 something couple visiting Chicago. We'll be staying at the James for 3 nights and I'm specifically looking for Saturday night recommendations. As we'll be enjoying a child free night looking for a Saturday recommendation for a restaurant with some lively atmosphere, leaning towards inventive sushi, or casual Italian (Lupa type) or contemporary American. One of us is a non meat eater (Fish is fine though). thanks in advance.
Sounds like you can go in a number of different directions. Here are some places I would recommend, based on what you're looking for:
Cafe Spiaggia (Italian) - www.cafespiaggia.com (click on "CAFE", not on "DINING ROOM")
Coco Pazzo (Italian) - www.cocopazzochicago.com
Cafe des Architectes (contemporary American) - www.cafedesarchitectes.com
North Pond (contemporary American) - www.northpondrestaurant.com
Blackbird (contemporary American) - www.blackbirdrestaurant.com
Carnivale (Latin fusion) - www.carnivalechicago.com
Nacional 27 (Latin fusion) - www.nacional27.net
Mercat a la Planxa (tapas) - www.mercatchicago.com
Red Light (pan-Asian) - www.redlight-chicago.com
Topolobampo/Frontera Grill (Mexican) - www.rickbayless.com/restaurants
Mexique (Mexican-French) - www.mexiquechicago.com
All of the above except Frontera Grill accept reservations on Opentable.com (for free) so you can go in there and find openings at a glance.
