Mignon vs. Jasper's

Considering both for an anniversary dinner. Any thoughts on which is better?

  1. I would go with Jasper's. Service is lacking a little at Mignon, and the food, while good, wasn't up to par with what you will get at Jasper's. Mignon seemed pretty much empty both times I have gone.

    1. I don't know that I would do either. Of the two Jasper's is a better choice for a quiet romantic dinner.

        Where would you suggest?

      2. Mignon has a great private room depending on the number in your party. I have had many excellent meals there and recommend it. I also like Jasper's.

        1. At that price point, you could also do Isabella's ( fantastic Italian food), or Silver Fox Steakhouse. Both are located at 121 and Legacy, IMO, BOTH better options than Jasper's or Mignon.

Isabella's doesn't get near the amount of pub that it should. Good choice, DCC.

I must say, though, I find Silver Fox utterly unromantic. I'll admit, I'm just not a III Forks/Silver Fox kinda gal. The decor screams 'boys' club' to me. Makes me want to scream back.

For my taste, Rise or Cadot would be good options ...

            2. Neither is particularly outstanding. Try Chamberlain's for a really outstanding meal!

              1. If you are going for intimate Lavendou on Preston South of 190. I was also agree that Isabella's would be a nice choice.

                1. Have you gone, yet? I have enjoyed both restaurants. I've only been to Jasper's twice, but I've been to Mignon more than 10 times in the last 2 years. I agree, the service can go up and down. I'd say 2 of the last 10 times we've gone, the service has been sub-par, but generally the service is very good. Both restaurants can be loud. Jasper's seemed to have a more 'uppity/trendy' type of attitude where as Mignon was more 'respectfully friendly'. You could call ahead and ask for their 'top' waiter and I'm sure they would seat you with someone good. Now, food. We like this place because we can consistently get good Steak Tartar (with yummy pommes frites - french fries), even when it is not on the menu. Also, we really enjoy their foie gras. (These two items are not common in any restaurant in Dallas.) I regularly enjoy all of their salads. The desserts are fine. Hubby likes the risotto that comes with the pepper encrusted steak (although he asks them to tone down the pepper). I always over eat here! Finally, another favorite is the blue cheese stuffed olives that my husband requests with his Tang. 10 martini! Phew - maybe more than you wanted to know. We love this place.
