Help me choose a restaurant for my 40th Bday!

Need some inspiration--lived in New York a long time, been to many of the "best" restaurants, want something Manhattan-y and memorable for a group of 4 for my 40th. Of the ones I've been to, I'm re-considering Gramercy Tavern, The Modern, The River Cafe. I've not had dinner at the Four Seasons. Done Per Se, don't need to spend the mortgage money again. Help! Open to suggestions. TIA

Gotham Bar and Grill does a great meal. The Four Seasons is a great choice and such a pretty room. Did you consider Scarpetta?

How about Colicchio and Sons? I'm dying to try it.

Have you done Eleven Madison Park? I also enjoy Gramercy Tavern but EMP is even better and a great experience.

Based on recent meals I would likely say The Modern BUT if you haven't been to EMP yet then I'm going to have to agree with the others and say that's the way to go.
