Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in the SF Bay Area (including Berkeley, Oakland, Napa, Sonoma, Marin, and San Jose)

Need Rec for dinner for bachelor party group of 8

Flying in from Scottsdale and we are looking for a good restaurant that would be good yet fun for a group of guys (ages 39-43). Nothing like Gary Danko or Boulevard but up to around $ 100 per person max. Maybe something that has a "rat pack vibe" or just fun but with really good food.

Much appreciated!!

    1. Alfred's for old-school SF steak house
Tadich for old-school SF seafood (but they don't take reservations, so that could be dicey)
Joe DiMaggio's Steak and Chop is an Italian chop house that is plastered with photos of Joe and Marilyn Monroe, etc. Their steaks are pretty good, and their scalloped potatoes are addictive. Closed Mondays.

      Hope that helps!

        1. maybe a spot like Bix would be cool...decent bar scene and very good food.

            1. "Rat pack vibe" made me think of Bix as well.

                1. A third on Bix. The other suggestions are all very fine restaurants, but Bix definitely has more "vibe," though Joe DiMaggio's might have music on weekend nights.

Bix has music. According to their website, this is the schedule:
Sundays and Mondays - Solo Piano
Tuesdays - Thursdays - Piano and Vocals
Fridays and Saturdays - Jazz Trio

                      • Absinthe's private room might be available for a group of 8, and then you could be as noisy as you want. App, entree, 3 great strong drinks would be around 100 pp after tax and tip. Alfred's will probably end up more, their martinis are small and expensive.
