NZ and the Wildfoods Festival

My wife and I are spending two weeks in New Zealand in March. I haven't finished working out our itinerary yet, but had a couple questions. Has anyone been to the Wildfoods Festival and is it worth a visit? Is there any food that is so good or so unusual that we should include should consider it in planning our trip?

  1. I've been to several WildFoods Festivals and they're FANTASTIC. Basically there are so many stalls you'll find something you like, previous memorable things I have tried include fresh milk made kahlua, home made wild pork sausages, testicles/mountain oysters, fried crickets, cow udder, pickled native fern.
    You may have issues in booking accomodation if you wanted to stay for the festival - it tends to get booked out quite early.

    I would definitely suggest coming to the festival if you can make it, its a very kiwi experience and pretty highly rated by a couple of international guides.
