Farm to table restaurants in DC for late April early May event
Is anyone familiar with what farm to table groups / restaurants exist in the greater DC area? I'm helping to plan a retirement dinner there in late April or early May. I was told in passing that Out Standing in the Field is a possibility but the cost is too exorbitant ($185 a head). Cheaper, equally beautiful options? Anyone?
Are you talking about locally sourced restaurants? If you're willing to travel, Patowmack Farms in Leesburg has its own sustainable farm, plus sources from local businesses for what is not grown on the farm. It's beautiful--in the mountains in the all glass conservatory, though not in the middle of a field but far less than $185 a head. It would be beautiful in spring.
Try Poste. Not sure how large your event will be, but they have some private space and the chef grows much of what he uses in the kitchen in the garden right outside the restaurant.

Second the recommendation for Nora - it's the only certified organic restaurant in DC, pleasant ambiance, and the food and service are excellent! I was there in Dec and it was definitely less than $185 pp.
