Bloomsbury Bistro, Raleigh, NC

Hey Hounds! I just searched to see if there were any threads on Bloomsbury Bistro since we now have the "southeast" board and didn't see one yet, so thought I would put in a good word for one of my all-time favorite restaurants.

I just got an email featuring a wine dinner they are having on Thursday, February 25th and wanted to share because it looks scrumptious. {see below}

Having been a fan of the Bistro since I moved to Raleigh in 1996, I would very much recommend it if you have not gone yet. Yes, it may have a higher price-point, but if you want remarkable food, and a wonderful, unpretentious atmosphere, this is your place.

Bon appétit!

Upcoming wine dinner:

Second Course

ZD Chardonnay Reserve Napa 2007

Third Course

    I am glad to hear they are still so well thought of. My husband and I lived in Raleigh in the late 90's and had our wedding at BB 11 years ago. It was a great meal...and all our friends and families who think great American cuisine begins and ends in either the NYC metro area or San Francisco were awed.

        Toler can cook. Some of the best meals I've eaten around here have been there. But it's been years. After he opened the second place in Cary some time ago (since closed), quality / attention seemed to steadily drop at both places until I stopped eating there after multiple disappointments. I sampled again a few years ago and had a meal that read well but tasted like it was essentially cooked in advance.

        I sincerely want this place to be as good as it has the potential to be. Maybe someone who's had the same experience can tell us they've turned the corner and are back on form?

          DRC, I do agree about the place in Cary. I have even forgotten the name of it now.... but to me, the quality of the Bloomsbury Bistro itself had never faltered. If it has been a few years, give it a shot again! :-) Best!
