There's a Mexican bakery/market called Panaderia. It's in Carrboro, on Hwy 54 at Carrboro Plaza. We got some fresh churros there today. They also have amazing baked goods that are baked on site. They're also very cheap. I bought two churros and a large custard-filled pastry for only $2.75.

re: tenacious z
I have to ask as it has been my experience with panaderias, but are the tastes distinctive? I mean in my past experience everything has somewhat tasted the same. Haven't been to the one in Carrboro, but I know the one you are talking about.. same place as the DMV and Food Lion.

Don't know if this helps, but Dos Perros is opening for Sunday brunch this weekend and one menu item is churros with hot chocolate. Yum!

The fruit, yogurt and granola plate looks tempting too ...

re: LulusMom
They really aren't bad. In fact, up until last Saturday I preferred them to Watts Grocery's churros. (Last Saturday, we had a batch of churros from watts that were wonderful - hot, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Usually the churros I eat there are hard through and through).
