St. Stephens Green thoughts?
We are constantly in search of the perfect combination of beer/food in Philadelphia. We've tried POPE, Standard Tap, N. 3rd, Prohibition Taproom, Grace Tavern and a few others, just to give you an idea of what we're interested in.
What do you think of St. Stephens Green? Can you offer any other suggestions besides those I've listed? Thanks.....J
I love St. Stephens! The bartenders are cool and very knowledgeable about what they have on tap, and the food has never let me down.
Agree about Sidecar and Good Dog-- I also like Brigids (though the food is a bit more pricey, they always have great beers) and Bishop's Collar is a good time. London Grill's got to have the best buffalo wings I've ever had, but doesn't have the ambience...
I would avoid the Belgian Cafe- it is owned by the same people who own Monks, and though their beer list is pretty good (if you like Belgians), their food is lacking and the service is usually fairly horrible.
St. Stephen's Green is great. Great beer selection, and I love their wings and they sometimes have a shepard's pie quesadilla that is out of this world. Ever have mashed potatoes on a quesadilla?
Some of my other favorite places for food and beer are:
Good Dog (just great all around)
Misconduct (I love the atmosphere, skirt steak sandwich, fries and burger)
Monk's (extensive beer selection and great muscles)
The Bards (best Guinness in the city)
I've eaten there twice and I loved it both times. Awesome roast beef sandwich and fish & chips. I'd go there more often if it weren't for the lack of street parking around there.
If you haven't been yet, I'd recommend checking out these places:
Royal Tavern (get the burger, thank me later)
Lucky 13 (known for its deconstructed meatball sandwich)
Good Dog (another great burger)
The Swift Half
South Philly Tap Room
