Suggestions for pre-show dinner near Freight & Salvage, Berkeley?

Tuesday night, 3/2/10, doors open at The Freight at 7 o'clock. Any ideas for quick and tasty dinner near downtown Berkeley? We will be rushing over from Palo Alto.

  1. We went to Gather for a pre-Berkeley Rep meal, and it was very good. The food--particularly the salads--was well executed, there was a small list of California wines, and the service was friendly and helpful.

    The restaurant is on Oxford at Allston, about 3-1/2 or 4 blocks from the new F&S space.

      Thanks. I have passed your idea to the rest of our party.

      That seems like a great suggestion. The sample menu looks like everyone will find dishes to meet their wishes/needs. And, Open Table reservations gives me confidence we can plan -- not panic -- about timing.

        Just slightly closer is another new restaurant eVe but it doesn't open til 5:30.
