Jamie Oliver's Wish: To Teach Children About Food

Gio Feb 16, 2010 10:38 AM

Just watched a serious talk given by Jamie Oliver. The message is something we ought to pay attention to, given the problem with obesity, not only in the US but globally. As my father used to say, "Actions speak louder than words." Mr. Oliver has been putting his message to work for the last 7 years in schools and elsewhere to get parents, teachers and others to rethink what children are fed.
Here's the video of his speech:

I am glad you posted about Jamie Oliver's message.

I wish everyone on Chowhound would pay attention to what he is trying to say about our children's nutrition, both in the speech and on the ABC "Food Revolution" series airing this month.

Mothers and fathers need to become better informed about good food for their families. They need to implement the change in their homes. Then they need take that message to their schools and to their friends.

There is nothing like a WOM* campaign to make change. And Jamie Oliver has begun the discussion.

I watched this talk a while ago, and it's pretty good. TED has some other (though older) talks on the quality of the food we eat as well, and they're good to watch:
