Good pho within walking distance of Bloor West Village?

Kitchen Imp Feb 16, 2010 10:23 AM

I'm in desperate need of a steaming bowl of pho to battle a nagging cold.

Does anyone have a recommendation for good pho within walking distance of Bloor West Village?

Many thanks in advance.

Depending on where you are in Bloor West Village, there is a Vietnamese place on Pacific Ave. at Dundas W.

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, my question was very specifically about finding *good* pho, not just whether there was a Vietnamese restaurant around nearby.

We're near Bloor & Runnymede, so Pacific and Dundas is out, at least while I have a bad cold. Looks like I'm out of luck! Maybe one will open sometime soon.

It's not pho, but the Seafood Udon soup at Yumi might help your cold.

I haven't tried any pho within walking distance of BWV... sorry

Ooh, great suggestion. I'm a Yumi regular, but the udon hadn't occurred to me. Thanks!

After waiting 1.5 hours for my dinner a couple of weeks ago, Yumi is now on my blacklist. Unless you want to see a steady stream of take-out orders taking precedence as you wait hungrily at your empty table, do yourself a favour and skip Yumi.

Really? Is it the same Yumi? Not Yama, which is next door? I eat at Yumi about twice a month and I've never seen anyone getting takeout there - and I've never waited longer than 15 min for food.

Yes, I am aware that there is both a Yumi and a Yama. My post was about Yumi.

Just making sure! No offense intended.

And that's why I replied. It's *good* for the area.

Anyway, I will know better next time not to reply to your questions.

Blue Bike, I actually wasn't replying to you - I was replying to tochipotle, who posted a link to a discussion about a nearby Vietnamese place where people didn't think the pho was very good, and I was hoping someone would suggest a place where they specifically liked the pho. I appreciated your reply - wish Pacific and Dundas were an easy walk from me!

And to be fair to tochipotle, now that I'm not fever-addled, I've gone back and re-read the link s/he posted. Turns out tochipotle specifically suggested the pho far down in that thread... so shame on me. Thanks again, all, and I'll see if I can drag myself up that way for a fix sometime soon!
