Places to Dine in Las Cruces and Hatch?

Perilagu Khan Feb 16, 2010 07:06 AM

Am planning a swing through southern New Mexico next month and was wondering if any Hounds have dining recommendations for Las Cruces and Hatch? Never been to either place.

Thanks.

For the Historical value alone you should dine @ La Posta de Mesilla. The food is above average SE New Mexican. I love their guacamole and the Campuesta Salad. It's a festive atmosphere.

For local fast food...Blake's Lotaburger for a green chili cheeseburger!

I've heard Sparky's in Hatch was a great place for a green chili cheesburger too! It's on my list for one of my upcoming trips!

You know, I've spent an awful lot of time in New Mexico and I'm not sure I ever had a green chili cheeseburger. Gotta say, it sounds pretty dang good!

Don't forget to buy some local chili's when your'e in Hatch! They have them whole, roasted, and frozen (not in season)....they'll ship them to your house on your preferred date!

I cook w/ them year round!

Oh yeah. What other reason is there to visit Hatch if not the chile?

PS--I've been reading up on a few places that sound very, very good: Chope's in La Mesa, and El Tranca and Habanero's in Las Cruces. Comments on these three spots would be appreciated.

chopes is amazing - if I could only do one restaurant, it would be Chopes! I haven't been to cruces in forever , but nopalitos used to be really good food, too. enjoy!
