Chinese delivery Woodbine/Danforth?

Looking for something that kids and grannies will eat. Nothing fancy, just tasty Chinese Canadian. I believe there was a place on Coxwell that people were recommending but I couldn't find the thread. Specific dish recommendations would be nice too.

Thanks - Marie

  1. You're thinking of Yummy Food & Bubble Tea, just north of Queen on Coxwell, formerly called Bene. Before they redesigned they also sold lackluster pizza and subs, but the menu is now strictly Chinese. I believe delivery is free, though I could be mistaken.

One of our favourites is the lemon chicken, which is a breaded and fried slab of chicken, with a lemon sauce on the side. The sauce isn't overly sweet, just a good balance between sweet and tart. I also really like the Szechuan Eggplant, which is very spicy, but also tender and juicy with a small hint of sweetness, like the lemon chicken. I've definitely liked everything I've ever had aside from their black bean sauce, but I think I just don't like black bean sauce.

They've got just about all the standard menu items, so you can pretty much order off the top of your head. Entrees tend to range from $7-9, and are generally good for 1.5-2 meals, more with rice.

Their number is 416-466-1234. I'll see if I can scan and post their menu later tonight.

I believe the place I was thinking of was North of the Danforth but Yummy sounds like it may fit the bill. Thanks for the suggestion.

    2. Absolutely Canadian Chinese food - but we have ordered from Seaspray on Kingston several times and enjoyed it... big chunks of chicken breast in the chicken balls. Reasonable price.

Seaspray has been our go-to for Chinese delivery for years. Nothing that will knock your socks off -- it's your standard Chinese Canadian fare, but for what it is, we've always enjoyed it. Nice people too.

      2. After searching the board, we ordered from Number One Chinese at Pape and Mortimer. Placed the order the night before and the food showed up hot and on-time. Food was fine and there was lots of it to feed 9 adults and 5 kids.
