Bobby-Q? Anyone tried it?

A local friend of mine (who is an amateur home smoker) just raved about this place... anyone tried it?

Can anyone compare it to Bludso's or Big Mista BBQ in Los Angeles?

The best reason to go to BobbyQ is for the upscale ambience. It's a really attractive place. The food is decent, but unexceptional - except for the mac&cheese which is the best in town.

Not familiar with the LA spots you mention, and my husband, not I, is the BBQ expert. We've been only once, and just for lunch, but really liked it. My husband, a Texas boy, loved his beef brisket sandwich, and I the special that day of a smoked prime rib French dip sandwich. Corn bread and mac and cheese was good also. Friendly service too.

In fact, it's on our list for lunch spots to take mom and dad when they visit next month. Even though it's right next to the highway, it has a surprisingly lush and cozy outdoor patio with a fountain, a pretty spot for al fresco BBQ.

Never been to Bludso but Bobby Q is no where near as good as Big Mista's. For some reason Q is generally pretty pedestrian in the Valley. I would say Bobby Q is comparable to Spring Street Smokehouse in DTLA.
