Private dining for 2 - any suggestions for a place in the west suburbs of Chicagoland?
Hi everyone,
My GF have a BD in a month and I wanted to take her some place private for nice dinner. I hope you guys can help me with this.
I'm looking for an intimate/private restaurant - isolated from the rest of the crowd/people. Enclosed space/room would be perfect. Her BD is on Sunday if that makes any difference.
Thank you in advance.
First place that comes to mind is Sugar Toad in the Arista Hotel on west side of Naperville (just east of Route 59 and north of I-88). It is quite nice, upscale, not crowded or noisy, and they have been advertising themselves with a Sunday night Steak House offering. This involves various steaks in the $38-35 range, which I believe includes sides and/or salad. Website is www.sugartoad.com There are several picutres of the dining area on the website.

Are you sure that Sugar Toad has a private dining room suitable for two? I can't tell that from their website. (I haven't been there, but I've heard very good reports about it.)
I'd also recommend Vie, in Western Springs. Vie is one of the Chicago area's best contemporary American restaurants. They have a private dining room but it's really sized more for groups of 10-20 people, although I suppose you could rent the room if you wanted. I have no idea what that would cost. It's worth noting that most places do private parties for groups of 10-20 or more, and it's not typically done for groups of only two. But I suppose you could ask. A photo of the private dining room is shown on Vie's website; click on "private parties".
You may find it acceptable for your needs to eat in the regular dining room at Vie. It's not overly noisy and it's reasonably spacious. The restaurant is arranged like a series of small rooms, and they actually surround that private dining room which is in the center of the restaurant although enclosed by walls.
Vie is closed on Sundays, so if it must be on THAT day, this may not work for you. (Sugar Toad is open on Sundays.)

I did not suggest that Sugar Toad has a private dining room for 2 people and doubt that most restaurants would find a need for having such. Sugar Toad has a nice and refined dining area and you basically say Vie does as well. The ST dining room is separate from the bar, so it provides the isolation from the "rest of the crowd".
