Traveling to Chile... what spices to bring back?

I will be traveling to Chile soon and I am a spice fanatic! Are there any specialties that I should look for?

I don't think that there are any spices in Chile that you can't get in the US, I also look for and buy spices when I travel, have bought the most in India, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the US.

I have to agree... spices are similar to those found in North America. I know some Chileans who swear by chilean oregano but it tastes the same to me as what I buy in Canada... one condiment you may enjoy is Crema de aji, a creamy hot pepper sauce of sorts, a bit like a ketchup. Not really spicy. JB is a good brand.. you can find it in North America but it's considerably less expensive there.

Yes, I usually come home with bottles of aji chileno - I like the JB pebre best. It has a flavor "muy chileno" - it is something that you will be able to try at pretty much any place you get a sandwich - there will be a plastic-looking mustard, ketchup, and aji. Make sure you don't confuse the ketchup with the aji.
