Favorite restaurants in the 9th Arrondisement

In Paris for the later part of April. Will be staying near the Opera. Anyplace special I shouldn't miss. My husband and I like to eat where locals dine, if that is helpful. We wouldn't mind a couple of higher end places either. Thanks.

My fav in the 9th is Wally le Saharien. There. I said it.

OK if one loves "dry" couscous.
      Good mechoui, take out available.

If you love steak tartare, give the Brasserie du Theatre, 59 Rue de Clichy - Metro: Liege

Here a video of its preparation http://www.geobeats.com/videoclips/fr...

There's Goumard, on rue Duphot, and the Bar Vendome, at the Ritz, has an affordable prix-fixe menu.

I am a fan of the 9th having rented apartments there totalling over a year. Two higher end places that we have enjoyed more than once near the Opera are Drouant and Fontaine Gaillon, both situated on the lovely Place Gaillon, which is actually in the 2nd, but close to the border of the Ninth. There is only one restaurant with a Michelin star in the 9th, the previously mentioned "Jean" on St. Lazare, but there are many good value places we have enjoyed such as Carte Blanche, Le Corneil(great cote du boeuf for 2), Bistro Canaille, try their caramelized pork cheeks, Casa Olympe(try the braised shoulder of lamb for 2), Carpe Diem and if you like platters of seafood try Garnier, just across from Gare St. Lazare. Others swear by Georgette, but it has failed to light my fire. There are several excellent ethnic places in the 9th: Sizin is one of the best Turkish restaurants in Paris; Sobane is very good Korean; Romaine and Dell'Orta good Italian. I haven't yet tried Table 28 but if it is still associated with Daniel Rose it must be good.

I think they are separate questions:

            In the 9th - Table 28
28, rue de la Tour d’Auvergne, 9th, (Metro: St Georges or Pigalle)
            T: 06.42.87.79.64
            Open Wednesday-Sunday lunch and dinner
            Menus 25 and 35 €
            and - Chez Grenouille
52, rue Blanche in the 9th (Metro: Trinite)
            T: 01.42.81.34.07
            Closed Saturday lunch and Sundays
Lunch menus at 15 and 25 and a 40 E carte but they’re cool about mix & matching

            Near the Opera:
            Drouant
            16-18, place Gaillon, 2nd (Metro: Quatre-Septembre)
            T: 01.42.65.15.16
            Open everyday
            Plat de jour 20 €, Lunch Menu 45 €, Menu-carte 67 €.
            or - Le Passage
9 place de la Madeleine, 8th (Metro : Madeleine)
            T : 01 42 65 22 90
            Open lunch and dinner everyday
            Menu = 36 €, a la carte 50-70 €.
