If you like eatting in an igloo and waiting forever this is the place for you!
While the food was ok (note it was not great - especially for the price), my husband (whom is always warm) and I could not even enjoy it because it was so cold in this restaurant. We tried three different tables and nothing helped. I was not the only diner eating in my wool overcoat either! We asked our server about it and she said she was chilly too but the rest of the staff thought it was fine so there had been no adjustment to the heat. All the same she did ask the hostess to move us to a different area of the restaurant but it was still freezing (like nose dripping, toes numb cold!)!
As for the food it was ok. I was surprised how much is fried and how limited the seafood options were on the menu. Also, for a meal like this it shouldn't be ala carte either! I ended up having the crispy shrimp to start (good), french onion soup to thaw out (average) and rack of lamb for dinner (I ordered it medium and it was rare to medium rare). And this took about 2 hours. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert -- instead we went to starbucks in order to regain feeling in our fingers.

njhound - I'm sorry about your disappointing meal at Matisse. Although it has been years, I seem to recall feeling the same way about the amount of fried food on the menu. I was not impressed with the food either and have never returned. The restaurant however must have a following as it continues to survive. In fact, some friends rave about the place. As the saying goes, "to each their own."
Probably not the best idea to let "the rest of the staff" who are likely working in the kitchen judge the comfort level of temps in the dining room...
