Any New Homestyle / Mom and Pop places in Orlando Attractions Area?

  • 2

Going to be taking my parents to Disney. They are pretty unadventurous food wise, and I am trying to figure out where to take them to eat.

Are there any good homestyle restaurants, or mom and pop style places that have opened up in the past year or so? I am thinking more American style food, they really don't care for most of the ethnic styles, particularly anything Asian or Mexican. We typically do the Cracker Barrel, TooJays, Perkins type of thing, but I am looking for something new. Mostly dinner places.

I would like to stick in the attractions area for convenience (and sake of future readers of this thread), but I know my way around, and if you have a particularly good suggestion with a bit a of driving I would love to hear that, too.

  1. Well I'll go out on a limb here and just give you the local version of cracker barrel and that is Randy's resturaunt on hwy 27 just two miles north of 192. take 192 to 27 go North for two miles. Is a local spot serving catfish frog legs, prime rib,,etc. good ole down south home cookin at a fair price. If you stay closer to the attractions you might take them to ranglin road or planet hollywood. Food at planet hollywood could be better but it is a cool place to dine.

    1. Mama Nem's is a new soul food place on Kirkman, not far from Universal, but further from Disney. They have a pretty big menu with all the typical southern foods, plus desserts like banana pudding, red velvet cake, pineapple upside down cake, and good sweet tea and out of this world cornbread! I think it's a step up from Cracker Barrel, but just as inexpensive.
