Looking for good Mexican near Hyatt Place Albuquerque/Uptown

Hey all,

I am going to be in ABQ for a meeting with collaborators. Only there for one night and I am lookiing for good food near the above hotel. I am willing to take a taxi but anything within walking distance is preferred. I used to live in Tucson, AZ (now live in MD) and I am craving some really good Mexican/Southwest food. Thanks to all for your input.

Take a cab or rent a car and go to Sadie's. They have very good green chiles -- the key to NM cooking IMHO, and they have the best salsa in the world.

There are several really good restaurants at Uptown, but alas, no Mexican/NM/Southwest.

Garduno's should work for you, however, I prefer Garcia's. There is one pretty close at 8515 Indian School NE.

Hopefully some local hounds can chime in with other walkable recs, as I don't know that part of town especially well, but two thoughts:

The only New Mexican place I specifically know of within short walking distance of Hyatt Place is the Garduno's (smallish local chain) at Louisiana at I-40. When I lived in Boston, I would have killed to have a place half this good; by ABQ standards it's fine. You'll certainly get your green chile fix.

A little further away is Los Cuates on Menaul, about a mile and a half up the hill. I like Los Cuates significantly better than Gardunos.
